Chase Lee Scouting Report

Chase Lee is a 6’, 170 lb. Slender build, medium-framed RHP who throws from a side arm slot. He was originally drafted by the Texas Rangers in 2021 in the 6th round, 164th overall. He signed for $75K out of the University of Alabama. His was acquired by the Detroit Tigers in 2024 for LHP Andrew Chafin along with RHP Joseph Montalvo.

In 2024, he posted a 2.75 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP with a 12.25 K/9 and a 2.75 BB/9. He has below average velocity, so his command must be on point at all times. His arsenal consists of a 4-seam fastball, a sinker, a sweeper, and a changeup.

Fastball: 40
His fastball sits between 88-92, four seam has tailing action and sinker has downer action to induce ground balls.

Sweeper: 55
His best pitch. Sweeper has 3-8 sweeping action through the plate, sits around 80 mph.

Changeup: 45
Fringe average changeup sits around 81 mph with slight sink.

Command: 45

Ability to throw strikes and induce chases from his unusual arm slot is impressive. Command in the zone not as precise.

Overall: A bit of a gadget reliever. Most likely role will be to target tough right-handed hitters in the middle innings. Could be a solid weapon as the last man in the bullpen, but will likely bounce between Triple-A and the big leagues.
