A small, stocky, switch-hitting catcher who has been in the organization since 2017. He’s listed as 5’10” and 155 lbs, I’d guess that he might be a little bigger than that. His defense and low K% will help him out as he continues to develop. Got his first taste with the Erie SeaWolves in 2023, getting the call up shortly before the playoffs. He did well enough that was the primary catcher in Erie in 2024.
Hit – 45
Eliezer does an excellent job at keeping the strikeouts down, including just 7.7% at AA. In addition to that, he also doesn’t walk very much, sitting below 6% in AA. He puts the ball all over the field and does an alright job at lifting the ball. The biggest flaw is he pops up tons. His 24.8% IFFB% was 46th highest out of 162 qualified AA hitters last year.
Power – 35
Not a ton of power from Alfonzo. He hits about 7-9 over the course of a 450 PA season at each step of the minors and he doesn’t have a ton of XBH power, maybe partially due to him not being fast.
Speed – 35
I clocked him at 4.43 on a bunt attempt from the right side of the plate and he doesn’t attempt to steal very much.
Defense – 50
He do a very good job game calling and has done well framing. In addition to that, he allowed only 2 passed balls last year.
Arm – 50
Strong arm, I clocked him at 1.99 to catch a runner stealing a bag, that might be the high end though. Still, it’s in there and tempted me to give him a 55.
