Josh Randall is a large (6’0, 250 lb.) strong, durable-bodied RHP. Drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 2024 out of San Diego State University in the third round, 85th overall, he signed for $697,500. In 2024 with San Diego State, he tossed 72.1 innings, posting a 3.73 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9, and 10.5 K/9. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot. Can send him out as a starter, but will more than likely end up in the bullpen because he lacks pls pitches. Future command is fringe-average, more zone-over-spot strikes.Â
Fastball – 55: Fastball is his best pitch. Sinker sits mid-90s and tails with sink action.Â
Slider – 45: Sits low 80s, tails away from RHH. Has the makings of an average pitch. Fingers positioned underneath the ball when he releases the slider makes it ride up in the zone. Needs to command.
Changeup – 55: Firm change sits 86-87. Effective when thrown down in the zone as it mirrors his fastball with late sink.Â
