Drew Sommers, Andrew Magno, Tim Naughton — 6.1 IP, 4 hits, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BBs, 4 Ks. The bullpen needed to carry a lot of this game starting in the 3rd inning. The combined to shut down Chesapeake and help get Erie the win.

Game Notes:

Roberto Campos has had a hit in every game he’s played in AA and has raised his BA to .375 and OPS to .787 on the year. Brady Allen continues his hot streak as well, getting his OPS to 1.125 after the two doubles tonight. The win gets the Seawolves to 4-1 on the year.

Tomorrow’s projected starters: Troy Melton (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs Alex Pham (0-0, 4.50 ERA)

West Michigan Whitecaps (High-A)

Final: Lake County 1 – West Michigan 13

Top Performer(s):

Josue Briceño, C — 1-for-4, 1 HR, 4 RBIs, 2 R 1 BB
Max Clark, CF — 2-for-4, 2B, 3 RBIs, 2 R, 2 BBs, 0Ks
Brett Callahan, RF — 3-for-4, 3B, 1 RBI, 2 R

Rayner Castillo — 4.0 IP, 1 hit, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K. Rayner Castillo shined in his High-A debut tonight. Only threw 52 pitches in his 4.0 innings of work tonight, but got tons of called strikes and worked efficiently.

Game Notes:

The Whitecaps blew this game open with a 6 run 4th that was capped by a Josue Briceño grand slam. They followed it up with a 3 run 5th and a 3 run 8th. Everyone got on base at least once and the pitching rolled getting 12 Ks, giving up just 1 run on 3 hits and 2 walks. A dominate performance by the entire team tonight.

Tomorrow’s projected starters: Joe Miller (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs Matt Wilkinson (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Lakeland Flying Tigers (Single-A)

Final: St. Lucie 13 – Lakeland 8

Top Performer(s):

Franyerber Montilla, 2B — 2-for-4, 1 HR, 2 RBIs, 2 R, 1 BB, 2 SB
Woody Hadeen, SS — 2-for-6, 3B, 1 R

Paul Wilson — 1.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 3 Ks. The 3rd round pick in 2023 for the Tigers has struggled with his command in his brief time in baseball and today was no different. But there is intrigue. Averaged 93.7 MPH on his 4S tonight

Ronny Chalas — 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K. He’s not a flame thrower and doesn’t have an incredible spin numbers, but he does work efficiently. His second stint with Lakeland (threw 9.2 innings last year), he’s still slightly younger than average and did a great job of releasing the ball for his slider and 4S at the same point. That could help deceive hitters at the lower levels. He will need some more velocity, only 90.5 MPH on his FB tonight.

Game Notes:

Paul Wilson got some time today for the first time this year. He seemed to have command issues, which he battled threw last year as well, as only 18 of his 50 pitches were in the strike zone. He was able to limit the hard hit contact, but he will need to work on his command more to be successful going forward. Franyerber Montilla had his best game on the season with two hits over 100 MPH, including hitting this 2-run shot to give the Flying Tigers another chance in extra innings, and creating chaos on the basepaths

Tomorrow’s projected starters: TBD vs Nate Dohm (0-1, 5.40 ERA)
