Game notes:

The Mud Hens couldn’t hold on to a late lead, falling 7–6 to the Iowa Cubs in 10 innings after a seesaw battle that featured big swings and key missed opportunities.

Matt Vierling got the scoring started early with a solo home run in the first inning, his second of the year. Akil Baddoo followed suit in the second with a solo shot of his own, and Jahmai Jones delivered what looked like the knockout blow in the 8th,  a towering three-run homer to center that gave Toledo a 6–5 lead.

But Iowa tied it on a solo homer by Chase Strumpf — his second of the game — in the top of the 9th off Matt Gage, then pushed across the go-ahead run in the 10th on a Jonathon Long single. Toledo couldn’t respond in their half of the 10th, going down in order with the tying run stranded at second.

Starter Dietrich Enns was sharp, throwing 6 scoreless innings with 7 strikeouts. The bullpen couldn’t hold it, as Tyler Owens gave up 4 runs in the 7th and Gage was tagged with the loss in extras.

Erie SeaWolves (Double-A)

Final: Altoona 6-4 Erie

Top Performer(s):

Jim Jarvis: 4-for-4, 2B (4), 2 RBI, SB

Eduardo Valencia: 1-for-3, HR (5), 2 RBI, HBP

Ryan Boyer: 2.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO

Game Notes:

The SeaWolves chipped away but couldn’t overcome a steady Altoona attack as the Curve won 6-4.

Altoona jumped out early behind a solo homer from Jack Brannigan and an RBI double by Kervin Pichardo in the second. Termarr Johnson later added a solo shot in the fifth, and Altoona built a 4–1 lead by the midway point.

Erie responded in the sixth when Eduardo Valencia crushed a two-run homer to right-center, his fifth of the season, bringing the SeaWolves within one. Valencia later grounded out to move the tying run to third in the eighth, and Jim Jarvis delivered with a clutch RBI single to make it a 5–4 game.

However, Altoona answered once more in the ninth, tacking on a key insurance run via a sac fly from Sammy Siani. Erie went quietly in the bottom of the ninth, with Jake Holton striking out to end it.

West Michigan Whitecaps (High-A)

Final: West Michigan 6-Lansing 3

Top Performer(s):

Max Clark: 2-for-5, 2 R, 2B, RBI, 2 SB

  • Jordan Marks (S, 2): 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 SO

Game Notes:

West Michigan rallied from a 2-0 deficit behind a key triple from Luke Gold and aggressive baserunning from Max Clark and Seth Stephenson. Kenny Serwa picked up the win in relief, while Jordan Marks earned the save after escaping an eighth-inning jam. Offensively, Clark and Stephenson each had two hits and two stolen bases, while Gold drove in two and reached base twice. The Whitecaps padded their lead late with RBI hits from Clark and Stephenson in the 8th.

Lakeland Flying Tigers (Single-A)

Final: Bradenton 6-Lakeland 4

Top Performer(s):

Kevin McGonigle : 1-for-2, R, BB (rehab debut)

Patrick Lee: 2-for-4, 2B (6), RBI, R

Jackson Strong: 2-for-4, R

Josh Randall: 4.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

Thomas Bruss: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

Game Notes:

The Lakeland Flying Tigers couldn’t hold a 4–1 lead on Monday night, falling 6–4 to Bradenton at LECOM Park following a five-run fifth inning that turned the game on its head.

One bright spot: Kevin McGonigle officially began his rehab assignment and looked sharp at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in his return to the lineup.

The Flying Tigers took the early edge thanks to RBI singles from Patrick Lee and David Smith, and capitalized on Bradenton’s defensive miscues to tack on a pair of runs in the fifth. But the bottom half of that inning proved disastrous, as Bradenton rallied with two outs and cleared the bases with a double by Axiel Plaz, then added another run off an error in center.

Bryce Rainer, who reached base twice on walks, stole a base and made the defensive play of the night — a deep throw from shortstop to first that cut down a runner by a step.
