Game notes:

The Mud Hens, now two games under .500 put together a whooping against the RailRiders. Everybody in the lineup recorded a hit except for Bligh Madris, who controlled the plate with 3 walks. Carlos Mendoza may be small, but he is mighty, driving 2 balls out of the park and along with Jahmai Jones, scored 40% of tonights runs. The Hens will be looking back to even up their record by the end of the series.

Yesterday’s game was postponed which leads to today’s doubleheader. The first game was a low scoring affair with both teams combining for 8 hits in a game that lasted just 1 hour and 29 minutes. Richmond’s starter, Joe Whitman put together a rare 7 inning complete game. Thayron Liranzo did not catch today, but hit a home run as the designated hitter resulting in Erie’s only run.

The Seawolves came back from the loss earlier in the day with another low scoring game, this time a win. Justice Bigbie recorded another 2 hits making him 4-for-6 on the day. Garrett Burhenn continues his hot streak on the bump striking out 7 in 5 innings. Erie now sits 1 game back in the Eastern League’s Southwest division.

West Michigan went up 7-2 in the 2nd inning but committed 3 ugly errors through the course of the game. 2021 2nd rounder, Izaac Pacheco is starting to put things together in West Michigan, playing his 226th career game for the Whitecaps tonight and hitting his 2nd home run of the season. West Michigan falls to 23-13 on the season, but is still atop the Midwest League standings.

The Flying Tigers pitching staff put together a dominant performance against the Threshers, despite 20 strikeouts from the offense. Last year’s 13th rounder Lucas Elissalt threw a masterclass against the Threshers throwing 5 scoreless innings of 1 hit ball. His successors in the bullpen, Stofel and Hebbert held down the fort to shutdown Clearwater’s offense.

It was Javier Osorio day in Tigertown today. The headliner of the Tigers 2022 international free agent class dismantled the Blue Jays offense, hitting his 2nd home run of the day and driving in 6 runs. 2023 high school draft picks, Johnathan Rogers and Jatnk Diaz combined for 7 innings of work today and 1 hit continuing their strong starts to the season.
