RJ Petit pitched a little over two innings of work that resulted in four strikeouts. Play will resume tomorrow.

Richard Guasch – 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, K

Game notes:

In a battle of the sea animals, Portland won forcefully. Kenny Serwa ate up five innings of work and only gave up four hits but allowed four free passes. Serwa did not punch out any batters as he experienced the occasional misfortunate of being a knuckleballer. Jake Holton belted his 19th home run of the season into left field in the second inning. Erie is 76-53.

Game notes:

The SeaWolves and Whitecaps played two different games. West Michigan came out with their hitting shoes on. Woody Hadeen lit up the box score as he scored and drove in several runs all whilst swiping a bag and hitting a three-run bomb in the sixth. Deadline acquisition, Paul Sewald, made his first rehab start as he gears up for October baseball in the Motor City. Hayden Minton threw a phenomenal five scoreless inning that included six strikeouts. West Michigan is 90-38.

Tomorrow’s projected starters: Maikel Miralles (0-1, 4.50 ERA) vs Preston Howey (6-3, 2.73 ERA)

Lakeland Flying Tigers (Single-A)

Final: Jupiter 2  – Lakeland 1

Top Performer(s):

Samuel Gil, SS – 1-for-4, RBI

Zach MacDonald, RF – 2-for-2, R, 2B, SB

Jake Miller – 1 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 2 K

Pedro Garcia – 3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 0 K

Game notes:

Different to the two games above, the Hammerheads and Flying Tigers played a low scoring affair. Jake Miller started the game as he gears back from an injury that has left him out of commission since April but unfortunately was drilled by a 105 MPH line drive that booted him out of the ballgame. Pedro Garcia pitched a nine up, nine down, no punch out three innings of work. Zach MacDonald hit a double in the sixth that resulted in the centerfielder scoring the only game for Lakeland. The Flying Tigers are 72-53.

Tomorrow’s projected starters: TBD vs TBD
