Toledo Mud Hens (Triple-A)
Final/10: Leigh Valley 8 – Toledo 7
Top Performer(s):
Baddoo, RF – 2-4, R, 2 BB, 2B, SB
Anderson, 3B – 2-4, 2 R, SB
Workman, CF – 2-4, 2 R, 4 RBI, BB, HR
Unroe, 2B – 3-5, RBI, 2B, SB
Game notes:
Gage Workman, have a day! He got the party started in the top of the second with a two-run home run to score Anderson and put Toledo up 2-0. Lehigh Valley answered back in the bottom of the second when our old friend Brewer Hicklen homered to score two and put the Ironpigs up. Lehigh Valley went on to score a couple more, and Dobnak’s night ended after six with a final line of 6 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 2 K. Toledo had a four-run eighth inning as Workman doubled to score Valencia, Cruz had a sac fly to score Anderson, Unroe doubled to score Workman, and Serven had a sac fly to score Navigato and make it 7-5 Toledo. Lehigh Valley, of course, answered back and took the game to extra innings, ultimately winning 8-7 on a sac fly. The Mud Hens are now 75-61 and in third place.

Final: Erie 10 – Portland 1
Top Performer(s):
Clark, DH – 2-6, R, 3 RBI, HR
Mcgonigle, SS – 1-5, R, RBI, HR
Briceno, 1B – 1-3, R, 2 BB
Malgeri, 2B – 3-5, 2 R
Stephenson, CF – 2-4, R, 2 RBI, BB, 2B
Burhenn, SP – 6 IP, 5 H, R, ER, 0 BB, 5 K
Calvo, RP – 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
Game Notes:
Erie absolutely clobbered Portland today as both the bats and the pitching put quite the performance. They didn’t wait to get to the good stuff either – seven of Erie’s ten runs came in the first inning. Clark and Mcgonigle, everyone’s favorite duo, went back-to-back with home runs to start the game off with a bang. The wheels would completely come off as Briceno would score on a throwing error, Bigbie scored, Malgeri scored on a Stephenson double, and Clark came back for more with a two-run single to make it 7-0 Seawolves by the end of the first inning. Burhenn only surrendered one run in his six innings of work, and Kohlhepp and Calvo combined for 3 innings of scoreless baseball. All around a great win for Erie. They are now 77-53 and in first place.

Final: Fort Wayne 6 – West Michigan 1
Top Performer(s):

Murr, DH – 2-3, RBI
Bastidas, 2B – 2-4
Lequerica, RP – 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
Game Notes:
A rough start for Howey today who would exit the game after 2.2 innings with a final line of 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 3 BB, 2 K. Hebbert would follow to let in two more runs (both home runs), but strike out 5 in 2.1 IP. The offense had trouble driving in runs today as they went 1-for-9 with RISP, stranding 10. West Michigan’s only run came from a sac fly from Murr that scored Pacheco. The Whitecaps, however, still have a dazzling record of 90-39 and are in first place.
Tomorrow’s projected starters:

Lakeland Flying Tigers (Single-A)

Stofel, SP – 6 IP, 2 H, R, ER, 2 BB, 2 K
Hoskins, RP – 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
Game Notes:
Stofel started for Lakeland today, and had a good start, letting in only one earned run in six innings of work. Rucker put the Flying Tigers on the board in the bottom of the third with a two-run single. Tapia singled to score Santana in the fourth, making it 3-0 Lakeland. Santana hit a three-run double in the bottom of the seventh to score Pinto, Rucker, and Hrustich and put Lakeland up 6-1. They would score four more in the bottom of the eighth, ultimately beating Jupiter 10-6. Lakeland clinched the first half of the FSL Western division title back in June, and today officially clinched the second half FSL Western division title. Congratulations to the Lakeland Flying Tigers!!!!
