Toledo Mud Hens (Triple-A)

Final/12: Round Rock 4, Toledo 7

Top Performers:

Brewer Hicklen – 2-6, 2 R, 2 RBI

Recently acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers, Hicklen recorded his first hits and RBIs for the Mud Hens tonight from the cleanup spot.

Eliezer Alfonzo – 2-5, 2B, 2 R, RBI

The 25 year old catcher spent 12 innings as the designated hitter tonight and did not disappoint. Alfonzo drove a run in the 7th to bring the deficit to one.

Matt Manning – 4.2 IP – 4 H – 2 ER – 3 BB – 4 K

Manning threw 69 pitches, throwing 58% of them for strikes. Aside from his third inning struggles which resulted in 3 hits, a walk, and 2 earned runs, Manning held his fort down without too much trouble.

Game Notes – The Mud Hens trailed all day until they tied the game into the 9th with back to back 2 out errors committed by the Express. Both teams went scoreless in the 10th, then scored 1 run each in the 11th, and Toledo put their hammer down on Round Rock putting up a 3 spot in the 12th to capture the win.

Up Next – Keider Montero makes his first start of the year tomorrow against Round Rock. Three other Tigers minor league teams play their opening day game tomorrow. Troy Melton is on the bump for the Erie Seawolves with Andrew Graham managing the Seawolves for the first time since 2018. The West Michigan Whitecaps take on the Dayton Dragons and top pitching prospect Chase Burns. The Lakeland Flying Tigers take on the Tampa Tarpons with both pitchers being TBD.
