File Dominant as Toledo Tops Columbus 3–1

Dylan File set the tone on the mound, allowing one hit over six scoreless innings as Toledo beat Columbus 3–1.

File worked efficiently through the lineup, limiting traffic and keeping Columbus off balance. He allowed just one baserunner through the first five innings and finished with two strikeouts.

Toledo scored all three runs early. In the third inning, Ben Malgeri doubled to drive in Max Burt, and Gage Workman followed with an RBI single to make it 2–0. Toledo added another run in the seventh on an RBI single by Malgeri, extending the lead to 3–0.

Malgeri finished with two hits and two RBIs, while Burt reached base and scored twice. Workman added an RBI single.

Columbus scored its only run in the eighth on an RBI single, but Toledo limited further damage and closed it out in the ninth.

Erie Builds Early Lead, Beats Chesapeake 7–3

Seth Stephenson reached on a throwing error to open the bottom of the first and later scored on a groundout by Thayron Liranzo. Brett Callahan followed with a walk, and John Peck hit a two-run home run to right-center field to make it 3–0.

Erie extended the lead in the fourth. Izaac Pacheco hit a solo home run, and later in the inning Peyton Graham singled, stole second, and scored on an RBI double by E.J. Exposito to push the lead to 5–0.

Chesapeake got on the board in the fifth inning on a groundout after a leadoff double by Adam Retzbach, cutting the lead to 5–1.

Erie added two more runs in the eighth. Peck doubled and moved to third on a stolen base before scoring on a throwing error. Graham later scored in the inning after reaching base and advancing on another defensive miscue, extending the lead to 7–1.

Chesapeake scored twice in the ninth, including a two-run home run by Aron Estrada, but did not get closer.

Peck finished with a home run and a double, while Pacheco added a home run. Graham reached base multiple times, stole bases and scored twice. Exposito contributed an RBI double.

West Michigan Walked Off Again; Jacobs Solid in High-A Debut

West Michigan was walked off for the second straight game in a 4–3 loss to Cedar Rapids, but the outing from Ben Jacobs stood out in his High-A debut.

Jacobs, recently promoted from Lakeland, worked 5.0 innings, allowing two runs on three hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. He held Cedar Rapids scoreless through three innings before giving up a two-run double in the fourth.

Cedar Rapids added another run in the sixth after Jacobs exited, taking a 3–0 lead.

West Michigan responded late. Bryce Rainer led the offense, finishing with a single, double and two walks while scoring twice. He scored in the seventh on an RBI single by Clayton Campbell and again in the ninth after reaching base to help tie the game.

West Michigan tied it 3–3 in the ninth on a forceout by Junior Tilien, but Cedar Rapids answered in the bottom half on a walk-off home run by Jay Thomason.

Lakeland Limited Offensively in 5–1 Loss

Lakeland was held to three hits and struck out 12 times in a 5–1 loss, with Zach MacDonald providing one of the few bright spots at the plate.

MacDonald doubled and reached base twice, while Jesus Pinto and Jack Goodman accounted for the only other hits. Lakeland finished 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and left six on base.

Lakeland’s only run came in the sixth inning. Jude Warwick walked and moved into scoring position before Carson Rucker drove him in with a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 3–1.

Bradenton built its lead with power, getting home runs from Carlos Caro, Yordany De Los Santos and Edward Florentino. A two-run homer in the seventh extended the lead to 5–1.
