It was a big day for player movement throughout the system, with prospects being promoted to every level, including a couple of 2026 draft picks making their pro debuts in Lakeland. Rain delayed multiple games, but the action eventually got going. Read all about it below!
Triple-A: Toledo Mud Hens @ Louisville Bats – Suspended
Rain delayed this one by about 35 minutes, but Toledo wasted little time mounting their first threat. Trei Cruz doubled on the first pitch of the game, and Jace Jung followed with a walk. Unfortunately, the Mud Hens couldn’t cash it in, with the next three batters going down in order, including a three-pitch strikeout from Josue Briceno in his Triple-A debut. And then the rain came back, and the game was suspended. To be continued on August 12th…
Erie SeaWolves (W 5-2) @ Hartford Yard Goats – 27-13 2nd Half, 63-45 Overall
Erie’s offense feels all-or-nothing at times. And through five innings on Tuesday, nothing was winning. The SeaWolves went with a bullpen game, and Hartford managed to squeeze across single runs in the 2nd against Colin Fields, and in the 4th off Yosber Sanchez. Marco Jimenez got into trouble in the 5th, but managed to get out of a bases-loaded jam. And then the offense finally woke up. Woody Hadeen picked up his first Double-A hit, Seth Stephenson scored on a Zyhir Hope groundout, and then Andrew Jenkins came through with a huge 2-out, 2-run double to give Erie the lead for good. The Wolves added another pair of runs in the 7th, thanks in part to a Yard Goats error, and the bullpen did the rest.

West Michigan Whitecaps (L 5-2) vs. Lansing Lugnuts – 24-19Â 2nd Half, 48-59 Overall
West Michigan’s quest to win the 2nd half division crown goes through in-state rival Lansing, and the Lugnuts were not in a giving mood on Tuesday night. This was a real pitcher’s duel through 5 innings, with Rayner Castillo and Lansing starter Jorge Marcheco trading zeroes. The Lugnuts. Lansing scratched across a run in the 6th, and it looked like Castillo was in trouble. But he rolled up a huge double play to become the first Whitecaps starter to complete six innings this season.
And Samuel Gil immediately tied the game with his first home run of the year. Unfortunately, reliever Ethan Sloan couldn’t keep Lansing off the bases in the 7th. He allowed four runs on five hits, including three doubles, and Lansing never looked back. The Whitecaps did scratch across another run in the bottom of the frame, but a baserunning error made sure the damage stayed at just one run.

Lakeland Flying Tigers (L 6-3) vs. Bradenton Marauders – 18-23Â 2nd Half, 49-57 Overall
Contrary to popular belief, Florida is not filled with elderly people. Everyone is just a little wrinkly because it never stops raining. Anyway, after a delay of about an hour, Bradenton jumped on Lakeland starter Caleb Leys. There were men on 1st and 3rd after just three pitches, but Leys did a good job limiting the damage to just one run with a pair of groundouts. The Marauders added another run in the 3rd, but the Flying Tigers got it right back on Jordan Yost’s second home run of the season.
Bradenton kept adding runs, with two the two in the 6th and two more in the 8th, and Lakeland didn’t have enough answers. Yost ripped a triple into the right corner, and Chris Meyers doubled him home to bring the Flygers back within Grand Slam distance, but they couldn’t complete the comeback. The only other highlights here were a nice leaping grab by Angel De Los Santos, and the first professional hit for Maddox Molony.

DSL Tigers 1 (? ?-?, ) vs. DSL Arizona Red – (19-32 Overall, or 20-31 Overall)
A rare DSL night game, this contest was also delayed an hour by rain. And they decided to play nine innings. So we’re just going ahead and publishing while they’re still playing. At this exact moment the game is tied at 9 in the 7th inning. We’ll come back and update at some point. Edwinyer Martinez has two hits and three RBIs, while Fabian Dorta picked up a pair of RBIs. There was also a scary moment in this one when infielder Enny Rodriguez took a fastball to the helmet.
DSL Tigers 2 (W 8-3, 7 innings) vs. DSL White Sox (30-21 Overall)
The Tigers2 continue to look like an upper-tier team in the DSL, picking up their 30th win of the season in a clean outing against the White Sox. Sheroky Rodriguez pitched three scoreless innings, and the Tigers took an early lead when Santiago Ventura stole home in the 2nd. He stole home again in the 4th as part of a 4-run outburst that was capped off by Manuel Bolivar’s 9th home run of the season. The Tigers added two more runs on a Samuell Sanchez homer and an RBI single from Ventura, and then they cruised to a comfortable victory.
