Tigers Minor League Recap

Here is the Tigers Minor League Recap as the Tigers won their 30th game tonight in Toronto 5 to 4.

Toledo Mud Hens (Triple-A)

Final: Toledo 6-Scranton 3

Top Performer(s):

  • Jahmai Jones: 2-for-3, 3B, 2 R, 2 RBI

  • Gage Workman: 2-for-3, HR (1), 3 RBI

  • Jake Rogers: 2-for-4, 2B, R

  • Brendan White: 2.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 K

  • Tyler Owens: 2.o IP, 3K

Game notes:The Mud Hens secured a 6-3 victory over the RailRiders. Jake Rogers went 2-for-4 as he continues his rehab and Matt Vierling, who should be heading back up to Detroit by the end of the weekend, finished 1-for-3.

Jahmai Jones’s triple in the eighth stretched Toledo’s lead after the Mud Hens scored a pair of runs in the 3rd and 4th innings.  The bullpen trio of Owens, White, and Vanasco held Scranton in check until the ninth, when Andrew Velazquez’s solo homer cut the lead, but Matt Seelinger, who would allow a single to Jesus Rodriguez, then proceeded to strike out the final two batters to preserve the win.

Gage Workman, making his Triple-A debut after returning from his tour of Chicago, finished the night with a home run, single and three RBIs.

Erie SeaWolves (Double-A)

Final:  Richmond 5-Erie 1

Top Performer(s):

  • Max Anderson: 2-for-4, HR (6), R

  • Jake Holton: 2-for-3, BB

  • Joseph Montalvo: 4.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K

Game Notes:Richmond used the long ball to out slug Erie behind a pair of homers from Bryce Eldridge, who drove in four. Max Anderson provided Erie’s lone spark with a solo shot in the first. The bullpen struggled to contain the Squirrels’ late-inning attack, and despite putting men on base late, Erie couldnt get nothing across.

West Michigan Whitecaps (High-A)

Final: West Michigan 8-Fort Wayne 4

Top Performer(s):

  • Max Alba: 4.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 7 K (W)

  • Andrew Jenkins: 3-for-5, HR (4), 2B, RBI, 2 R

  • Izaac Pacheco: 2-for-4, 2B, BB, RBI, R

  • John Peck: 2-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 R

Game Notes:With Max Clark resting the night off and Wenceel Pérez rehabbing in the DH spot (2-for-2, 2B, R), West Michigan pull to 11-11 on the road this season. Max Alba was electric in relief, tossing four hitless innings with seven strikeouts after Kenny Serwa opened the game, allowing one run on four hits in three innings of work.  The offense erupted behind Jenkins, Peck, and Pacheco in the late innings to put the game out of reach. Pacheco looks like he’s figuring things out, hitting .350 this month and registered his third straight multi-hit game.

Lakeland Flying Tigers (Single-A)

Final: Lakeland 3-2 Clearwater

Top Performance

  • Cristian Santana: 1-for-3, HR (3), BB, RBI, R

  • Woody Hadeen: 1-for-4, HR (2), RBI, R

  • Moises Rodriguez: 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 K (W, 1–0)

  • Thomas Bruss: 1.0 IP, 0 R, SV (3)

Game Recap
Home runs by Santana and Hadeen staked Lakeland to an early lead, but defensive miscues let Clearwater tie it by the seventh. In the ninth, Garrett Pennington’s fielder’s choice drove in the go-ahead run, and Moises Rodriguez and Thomas Bruss combined to close it out. Kevin McGonigle went 1-for-3 and played short tonight as he continues his rehab assignment.

FCL Tigers (Rookie ball)

Top Performance

  • Javier Osorio: 2-for-3, SB

  • Anibal Salas: 1-for-3, R

Game Recap
The FCL Tigers took an early 1–0 lead in the third but were undone by a disastrous fourth inning, where four walks, a balk, a wild pitch, and two errors fueled a six-run frame for the Blue Jays. Bryce Alewine struggled with command and was tagged for three earned runs in just 0.2 IP. Detroit’s offense managed only five hits and never recovered.
