Game notes:

Joe Miller made his first start for the Mud Hens tonight, completely skipping Erie. The former ivy leaguer made his way six innings and received a quality start. The offense struggled, only getting four hits on the night, all being singles. Toledo only walked one time, significantly less than their average per game, 4.5 walks per game. Toledo evens up their record at 42 a piece.

Tomorrow’s projected starters: Nick Margevicius (4-2, 2.64 ERA) vs Doug Nikhazy (5-4, 4.26 ERA)

Erie SeaWolves (Double-A)

Final: Akron 7  – Erie 3

Top Performer(s):

Trei Cruz, SS – 1-for-4, 2B, BB, SB

Jake Holton, 1B – 2-for-4, R, 2B, BB

Carlos Mendoza, RF – R, RBI, HR,

Austin Bergner – 5.2 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 7 K, Loss

Game notes:

The SeaWolves didn’t necessarily struggle at the plate, but were anything but clutch. Erie as a team was 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position. Carlos Mendoza’s solo home run in the seventh gave Erie their first run but were still down 6-1. Three players hit a double and the team as a whole recorded six walks. Austin Bergner missed bats, striking out seven and was one out shy of a quality start, but gave up three runs and received the loss. The SeaWolves are 49-29.

Tomorrow’s projected starters: Kenny Serwa (3-2, 4.97 ERA) vs Dylan DeLucia (3-1, 3.15 ERA)

West Michigan Whitecaps (High-A)

Final: Great Lakes 1  – West Michigan 2

Top Performer(s):

Max Clark, CF – 3-for-4, BB

Josue Briceno, 1B – 1-for-3, RBI, 2B

Colin Fields – 4 IP, H, ER, BB, 7 K

Micah Ashman – 1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 K

Game notes:

Lake County and West Michigan played in a low-scoring affair today, totaling eight hit between both teams. The lone run for the Loons was a solo home run by Zyhir Hope in the fourth inning, later countered by a Josue Briceno RBI hit by pitch in the eighth. The game went into the extra innings tied 1-1, and walked off by Kevin McGonigle, who went hitless on the night but encountered a massive blunder by the Loons at first base which gave the Whitecaps the win. West Michigan is 53-24.

Tomorrow’s projected starters: Hayden Minton (2-1, 3.55 ERA) vs Maddux Bruns (0-0, 3.12 ERA)

Lakeland Flying Tigers (Single-A)

Final: Dunedin  – Lakeland POSTPONED

Game notes:

Postponed due to inclement weather.

Tomorrow’s projected starters: TBD vs TBD

FCL Tigers (Rookie Ball)

Final: Tigers 0  – Yankees 2

Top Performer(s):

Ronald Ramirez, RF – 1-for-2

Jatnk Diaz – 4.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, ER, BB, 3 K, Loss

Game notes:

There is not much to say about the Complex Tigers today. It didn’t go a full five innings due to weather. The Tigers reached first base safely one time with a Ronald Ramirez single. Jatnk Diaz didn’t pitch terribly today, only giving up one earned run with the unearned run fueled by Enrique Jimenez’s twelfth error of the year. The FCL Tigers are 28-16.

Tomorrow’s projected starters: TBD vs TBD

DSL Tigers 1 (Dominican Summer League)

Final: Tigers 0  – Nationals 5

Top Performer(s):

Miguel Molina – 4.1 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 2 ER, BB, 5 K, Loss

Game notes:

The Dominican Summer League Tigers1 were shutout as well. On top of being shutout, they were no hit in seven innings. Miguel Molina gave up nine hits, but only gave up two earned runs. The DSL Tigers1 are 7-15.

Tomorrow’s projected starters: TBD vs TBD

DSL Tigers 2 (Dominican Summer League)

Final: Tigers 7  – Angels 9

Top Performer(s):

Jose Ramirez, RF/CF – 1-for-4, 2 R, BB, SB

Edgar Lugo, 3B – 2-for-4, 3 R, RBI, BB

Sterling Bazil, SS – 1-for-3, R, RBI, BB

Albert Ramos – 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 K

Game notes:

The rookie-ball circuit had a rough day in the heat, but the Tigers2 were the only team to score runs. Albert Ramos pitched four innings without giving up an earned run. Fielding in the Dominican Summer League isn’t always pretty to the eye. The team totaled five errors, including three from Edgar Lugo. Only four out of the nine runs scored by the Angels were earned. The Tigers2 are 10-13.

Tomorrow’s projected starters: TBD vs TBD
