Today’s game was very much a pitching duel, both teams with very strong pitching performances as Iowa shut out Toledo. Something has to give, though, and Mattison gave up one run in the ninth to Iowa. Toledo went 0-for-6 with RISP and stranded five runners.

Game notes:
The SeaWolves forced Game 3 of the Eastern Division League Series, and good thing they did. Peña got the start and pitched 4.2 innings of one-run baseball, striking out 4. Bergner, Guasch, and Magno combined for 4.1 innings of scoreless baseball to close it out. Erie answered back to Altoona’s one run in the bottom of the first on a sac fly by Holton. Liranzo doubled in the bottom of the fourth to score Holton, putting Erie up 2-1. Malgeri followed up Liranzo’s double with a single to score Liranzo, making it 3-1 Erie which would be the final score.
Tomorrow’s projected starters: N/A. Game 1 of the championship series will start Sunday, September 21 at 4:05 PM ET. Pitching probables are still TBD.
