Caleb Leys Scouting Report
Drafted in the fourth round of the 2025 draft out of the University of Maine, Caleb stands 6’1”, 190 lb. He is a LHP who missed the 2024 season as he had Tommy John surgery. In 2025, he posted a 2.69 ERA, striking out 74 in 67 IP.
He is starting his 2026 season in High-A Lakeland. He has a high leg kick, fluid delivery that lands on-line, long arm action into a 3/4 arm slot with slight gloveside falloff.
Fastball: 45
In 2025, his fastball sat about 92 but he can reach back for more. The fastball has sinking action with a slight arm-side run.
Slider: 50
The slider has a big, sweeping action with a 2-8 shape.
Changeup: 50
The changeup has a lot of late sink to it, the best ones bottoming out and making hitters expand the zone.
Command: 50
Leys did a great job of moving his pitches around the plate in 2025, and held opponents to a .136 average in 3-2 counts, doing a great job executing.
Control: 45
His walk rate was slightly high his first two years at UM, but he sat about average in 2025 where his strike-throwing improved significantly.
