Tigers Minor League Recap – 7/8
Toledo Mud Hens (Triple-A)
Final: Toledo 2 – Indianapolis 0
Top Performer(s):
Max Clark, CF – 1-for-3, R, RBI, BB
Max Anderson 3B – 2-for-4
Eduardo Valencia, C – 2-for-4, RBI
Trei Cruz, LF – 1-for-4, R, 3B
Carl Edwards Jr. – 5.2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, Win (4-6)
Game notes:
The Mud Hens competed in a pitchers duel in Indianapolis with the Indians. 2016 World Series champion, Carl Edwards Jr. dazzled in nearly six innings of work. Batters whiffed at a 30% rate, enough to keep Indianapolis honest. The Hens bats remained quiet most of the night, but a go-ahead single in the third by Max Anderson and a fourth inning triple from Trei Cruz was enough to make the Mud Hens victorious. They’re back at it tomorrow with a 43-45 record.
Tomorrow’s projected starters: Ty Madden (2-0, 4.84 ERA) vs Jose Urquidy (5-3, 3.92 ERA)
Erie SeaWolves (Double-A)
Final: Harrisburg 5 – Erie 2
Top Performer(s):
Seth Stephenson, CF – 1-for-4, SB
Max Burt, 2B – 1-for-4, R, 2B
Patrick Lee, LF – 1-for-3, R, RBI, BB
Joe Campagna, C – 1-for-3, RBI, 2B, BB
Kenny Serwa – 4 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, Loss (3-7)
Yosber Sanchez – 2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, BB, 4 K
Game notes:
Knuckleballer Kenny Serwa and the Erie SeaWolves faced Harrisburg this evening. The SeaWolves took a 2-0 lead in the second inning thanks to a Patrick Lee single followed by a Joe Campagna double. That would be all for Erie, as they reached first based safely via a base hit just twice for the remainder of the game. Harrisburg chipped away a run at a time in the third, fourth, and fifth inning, which is all they needed prior to insurance runs added on later. Erie falls to 47-35.
Tomorrow’s projected starters: Riley Maddox (0-0, 9.00 ERA) vs Andrew Sears (1-0, 1.69 ERA)
West Michigan Whitecaps (High-A)
Final: Fort Wayne 1 – West Michigan 14
Top Performer(s):
Woody Hadeen, 2B – 1-for-3, 3 R, RBI, 2 BB
Bryce Rainer, SS – 5-for-5, 2 R, 6 RBI, 2 2B, HR, SB
Clayton Campbell, 1B – 1-for-4, 2 R, RBI, HR, BB
Stephen Hrustich, LF – 1-for-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, HR, BB
Ben Jacobs – 5 IP, 3 H, ER, BB, 8 K, Win (2-1)
Colin Fields – 2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, K
Game notes:
West Michigan and Fort Wayne partook in a bloodbath that didn’t land the TinCaps a chance. Bryce Rainer recorded ten total bases fueled by two doubles and a two-run long ball. Stephen Hrustich hit his fourth home run of the year in the fourth, and Clayton Campbell hit his sixth in the fifth inning. Fort Wayne collectively walked eleven batters as their pitching staff was completely dismantled by the West Michigan bats. Ben Jacobs started for the Whitecaps, striking out eight batters in five innings, only surrendering one run, a home run to Jack Costello, the only run of the game. The Whitecaps improve to 34-47 and will be back tomorrow.
Tomorrow’s projected starters: Carson Montgomery (2-3, 3.86 ERA) vs Lucas Elissalt (2-4, 4.39 ERA)
Lakeland Flying Tigers (Single-A)
Final: Lakeland 8 – Dunedin 2
Top Performer(s):
Beau Ankeney, 1B – 3-for-5, R, 2 RBI, HR
Nick Dumesnil, CF – 1-for-2, 3 R, RBI, HR, 3 BB
Jude Warwick, 2B – 1-for-4, R, 2 RBI, HR
Jesus Pinto, RF – 3-for-4, 2 R, SB
Zach MacDonald, LF 2-for-3, R, 3 RBI, HR, BB, SB
Cash Kuiper – 4.1 IP, 6 H, R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
Game notes:
Cash Kuiper and the Flying Tigers took on the Dunedin Blue Jays in an affair that swayed in Lakeland’s direction all game. Jude Warwick broke the ice in the second inning with a two-run shot, his sixth of the season. Last year’s 14th round selection, Beau Ankeney hit his 13th home run of the season. Nick Dumesnil, who was taken in the eighth round in 2025, hit a home run of his own. To cap off the home run party, Zach MacDonald involved himself by hitting his 14th of the season. Lakeland improves their record to 39-43 in an attempt to reach .500 level baseball.
Tomorrow’s projected starters: Malachi Witherspoon (3-3, 5.44 ERA) vs Troy Guthrie (2-3, 3.92 ERA)
