Wilkel Hernandez didn’t have his best outing today, surrendering 8 H and 5 ER over 5 IP, although he did fan 7. He induced some whiffs, 10 0n his sinker and one on his slider, but ultimately left the fastball over the heart of the plate entirely too much and hit a couple batters. Woo-Suk Go made his debut for the Mudhens today, pitching one inning of relief, 2 H, R, ER, and a K. His four-seam fastball touched 94 and sat 93, cutter 88, and we saw him flash his splitter and curveball. Alex Lange continued his rehab assignment, throwing one shutout inning with a walk and two strikeouts.

Game notes:
Erie struck first and continued the party in the sixth inning on an Alfonso double. Chris Meyers homered in the top of the eighth to add an insurance run. Erie is 48-25 and remains in first place.

West Michigan Whitecaps (High-A)

Game notes:
Joe Miller started for West Michigan, pitching 4 innings with a final line of 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K. Howey and Ashman combined for 3.1 scoreless innings of relief. Today was all about the offense, however, as Graham had two doubles, and Murr, Graham, and Mcgonigle all homered, ultimately putting West Michigan ahead. They are now 50-22 on the season and remain in first place.

Lakeland Flying Tigers (Single-A)

Game notes:
Despite some control issues, Elissalt pitched a scoreless 4.2 innings for Lakeland. He induced a total of 14 whiffs today, both his four seam and curveball looking great. Lakeland’s one game-winning run came from an Abel Bastidas single in the bottom of the fourth, scoring Stephen Hrustich.

The Complex League Tigers scored two runs in the first three innings, then were held to only one run in the last sixth innings by a gem from Guthrie. Ultimately, the HBP to Drew Jamison did the Tigers in, scoring Bonilla and putting the Blue Jays on top.
