Jackson Wolf — 6.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 K. What a statline! He had a 70% 1st pitch strikes and a 32% Whiff%. The real noteworthy stat is the 0 hits allowed. Easily the best outing of his Mud Hens career!

This was all about the pitching tonight. No runs would score before Jace Jung drove in Corey Julks in the 6th inning.

 Jackson Wolf and Hayden Minton combined to give the Mud Hens 7 hitless innings where they’d strike out 9 and walk just 2. It wasn’t until Ty Madden gave up a HR vs the 2nd batter he faced in the 8th that the Indianapolis offense would get their first hit and tie up the game at 1.

Luckily the Mud Hens would immediately answer back when Andrew Navigato would get a force out with the bases loaded to get a run across and give the Mud Hens the 2-1 lead and ultimately the victory.

Cale Wetwiska — 3.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K. Up and down outing for Wetwiska. 4 strikeouts is great, but he required 83 pitches to get through his outing. But it’s also his first high A appearance, so it’s pretty good overall 

Game Notes:

This was really a game of missed opportunity for the Whitecaps. They scored 4 runs, but were also 1-for-8 with RISP and had 9 LOB. Beau Ankeney with his 3 hits has raised his West Michigan OPS to an insane 1.141. 

The Whitecaps would have a 4-3 lead through their half of the 8th. Then the Dayton bats would go on an unreal run scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the 8th, all with 2 outs, giving them the 9-4 lead. 5 of the runs would be charged to Logan Berrier and 1 to Jalen Evans.

Cameron Flukey — 4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 6 K. Cameron Flukey threw 51 pitches in his 4 IP, he got 10 whiffs in 21 swings including 4 on 7 swings vs his slider and a 3-for-3 on his changeup. His IVB continues to impress, sitting at 20 for his 4S

Game Notes:

The offense wanted to make sure the game was out of reach early as they put up 7 in the 3rd inning. That third inning included a pair of 3 run HRs, one for Angel De Los Santos and one for Anibal Salas. Cris Rodriguez would add his 3rd Lakeland HR in 24 PA in the 8th inning to add to the lead.

Meanwhile the pitching side also got it done. Flukey has a great start, as listed above, and Paul Wilson would have a really good outing himself despite getting into a little bit of trouble. All 4 of his outs would come via strikeouts and he would also have a 31% Whiff%. Yendy Gomez would also have a pretty good outing. His slider would get 6 whiffs on 6 swings as he racks up 4 strikeouts in 1.2 IP and gets the win.
